Lotus, JLR, Bentley get grants

Bentley, Jaguar Land Rover and Lotus will be to receive around £15 million in federal government grants, it’s been announced today.

The 3 vehicle makers were awarded Regional Growth Fund (RGF) grants.

Bentley received £3 million, so it stated will safeguard 200 jobs, create new vacancies and fund new engine development. The second is believed to consult Bentley’s approaching growth and development of a diesel engine.

Bentley chairman and leader Wolfgang Durheimer stated: “This can be a real boost for Bentley. This grant can help safeguard our (engineering) operations once we turn to develop new powertrains which attract untouched markets and new clients.Inch

Lotus boss Dany Bahar stated its £10.4m grant is needed create around 1000 jobs.

Bahar stated the roles could be produced included in a 5 to 6-year expansion plan. He stated the cash will fund another factory and vehicle set up line to begin for any new vehicle range.

Bahar stated: “It had been always our intention right from the start to produce jobs in the area, mainly in the automotive manufacturing industry within the United kingdom, that was a problem.

“In my opinion it required a little time for that government to know our plans moving forward and also the need to keep your production for this type of small vehicle company together.

“It wouldn’t make an excessive amount of sense to achieve the mid-engined cars created at Hethel and various engined cars elsewhere.”

How big Jaguar Land Rover’s funding hasn’t yet been revealed, however it was awarded for brand new engine plants in Gaydon in Warwickshire and Whitley in Coventry. They are thought to be for four-cylinder units.
